Will Wavesteam operate my product, and what if nobody uses it after launch?
Wavesteam is a product and technology partner, not a managed marketing agency. We cover product planning, design, development, launch, analytics instrumentation, and technical iteration. We do not run daily content, advertising, sales, communities, or field promotion. If a project has no reachable first users, credible acquisition route, or accountable operations owner, we recommend validating demand before building the full product.
“Nobody used it” is rarely a coding defect. It usually means the users, channels, and operating responsibilities were never established. Software can make a service or transaction more efficient, but it does not create customers by itself. A clear boundary prevents the mistaken expectation that delivery of an app automatically includes growth.
Three possible engagement scopes
| Engagement | Wavesteam owns | Client or operator owns | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product development | Discovery, prototype, design, engineering, test, launch, and technical support | User research, content, promotion, sales, and service | Client already has channels and an operating team |
| Development plus growth infrastructure | Product work plus analytics, funnels, campaign configuration, messaging, and experiment capability | Campaign planning, content production, media buying, and review | Client can operate but lacks technical tools |
| Development alongside a specialist operator | Technical integration, campaign pages, and data interfaces required by the operator | Content, advertising, community, and acquisition execution | Client has a separate marketing partner |
Prove where the first users will come from
The client should be able to identify a reachable initial group, how those people solve the problem today, why they may switch, and who can invite them to try. The useful sample depends on price, decision roles, and the experiment. Enterprise purchasing may need only a small but genuine decision chain, while a consumer product generally needs broader behavioural evidence. Existing stores, business customers, trade associations, private communities, content audiences, and channel partners can all support a cold start. “Buy ads after launch” is incomplete without acquisition cost, conversion path, and retention assumptions.
With no reachable audience, begin with interviews, a manually delivered service, or a simple landing page. Look for meaningful action such as a contact request, booking, or payment before committing to the product. Wavesteam can create the validation page, form, and minimum prototype; the client remains responsible for interviews, sales relationships, and access to the channel.
Support one growth loop in the first release
A booking product might first support “existing customer scans—chooses service—books—visits—books again.” A B2B tool might support “salesperson invites—customer submits material—team processes—customer receives result.” Points, group buying, leaderboards, distribution, and complex memberships do not create core value and can delay real feedback.
Instrument the route from source, registration, activation, core action, payment or lead, retention, and departure. Give operators only the content controls and funnel views needed for decisions, and design consent at the same time. Analytics should collect decision-useful events rather than unlimited personal information for hypothetical future use.
After launch, Wavesteam owns system stability, defects, release execution, analytics correctness, and agreed technical iterations. The client owns the content calendar, campaigns, customer service, channels, sales, and user feedback. Together we use evidence to choose the next iteration.
| Signal | Likely issue | Response |
|---|---|---|
| People never reach registration | Acquisition or message | Fix the channel before adding features |
| Many register but do not complete the core action | Value proposition, flow, or product | Review interviews and funnel evidence |
| People complete once but do not return | Continuing value or re-engagement | Validate usage frequency and repeat need |
| A small group uses it frequently | Core value may be present | Interview them and expand similar channels |
Wavesteam documents operating assumptions and exclusions during discovery. Our case centre shows different product forms but no case's cold-start route can simply be copied. Without a channel and operating owner, we prefer a time-bounded validation prototype to an enlarged contract described as “operations included.”

Acquisition cost, retention, and revenue must come from real channels over a defined observation period. A development company cannot promise user numbers without market evidence.
