Implementing OCR consolidation
Improve the form before tuning a model. Give the document number, date, product code, quantity, and signature fixed positions with alignment marks. Use boxes or columns for handwritten numbers so writing does not cross lines. Capture can come from a phone, mini-program, scanner, or fixed camera. The system should reject blur, glare, missing corners, and duplicate pages while an operator can still retake the image.
Recognition first locates the page layout and tables, then treats printed text, handwritten digits, and free-form notes appropriately. A signature is usually kept as an image or checked for presence; forcing an illegible signature through ordinary text recognition creates false data. Retain source coordinates and confidence for every field, then validate results against product master data, plausible quantities, dates, detail totals, and shifts.
Unknown products, abnormal quantities, failed validations, and low-confidence fields enter a review screen with image and extracted result side by side. Approved records can be written to WMS or ERP or exported as a consolidated table. Document identifiers and image fingerprints prevent duplicate posting. Do not promise “95% handwriting accuracy” before testing. Digits, Chinese notes, individual writers, pens, paper, lighting, and camera angles produce different results. Installing readers alone does not create correct inventory.
OCR is usually more economical for workshop reports, return reasons, temporary handovers, historical archives, and supplier paper forms. In a hybrid system, standard goods carry RFID through the normal process; damaged tags, occasional adjustments, handwritten exception reasons, and third-party paperwork use OCR. Both streams meet on a document number, batch, or EPC, with people confirming unresolved exceptions.
