Can Wavesteam develop integrated IoT hardware and software applications?
Yes. Wavesteam can review device protocols, build connection and data services, rules and alerts, administration, and mobile or mini-program applications. That does not automatically include circuit or mechanical design, firmware ownership, tooling, certification, manufacturing, or site construction. Those responsibilities must be assigned after a working prototype and accountable parties are identified.
“Integrated delivery” becomes risky when a software supplier is assumed to own every device outcome although electronics, sensors, communications, firmware, platform, and installation come from different teams. Establish who freezes the protocol, repairs firmware, provides fixtures, owns radio or industry certification, diagnoses site networks, and has final authority over unsafe equipment.
When separating device, connectivity, and platform responsibilities, also compare Which providers should be considered for a custom IoT hardware-software system? and What hardware information is required before starting an IoT software project?; the linked guidance adds context that should be considered in the same decision.
| Layer | Wavesteam can provide | Client/hardware party provides | Default status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Device/firmware collaboration | Protocol review, field/error advice, integration tools | Working samples, firmware source or maintainer, hardware material | Review may be included; development separate |
| Connectivity | Identity, MQTT/HTTP/private adapter, offline backfill | SIM/network route, device credentials, protocol versions | Scope-based |
| IoT platform | Model, messages, rules, alerts, OTA orchestration, audit | Device update/rollback support and scale forecast | Scope-based |
| Business apps | Administration, app/mini-program, orders, work orders, reports | Business rules, roles, operations, acceptance owner | Scope-based |
| Manufacturing/certification | Interfaces for provisioning and production-test data | Factory, tooling, BOM, radio/security/sector certificate owner | Not included by default |
| Site implementation | Deployment material, remote diagnosis, contracted site support | Premises, power, network, permit, physical safety | Quote by location and visits |
Our public portfolio includes battery management and energy-swap platforms. These support a claim of relevant software integration and operations-platform work, not universal protocol, scale, or manufacturing capability. Every engagement still proves one target sample and frozen protocol.
Project commitment needs four inputs: a reproducible working sample rather than slides; a versioned protocol defining units, scaling, enums, checks, time, retransmission, and command acknowledgement; an available firmware owner; and one minimum loop such as activate–report temperature–raise alert–resolve–recover. If one is missing, only discovery or technical research can be scheduled responsibly.
Connectivity follows power, coverage, bandwidth, latency, and cost. MQTT, HTTP, Modbus, BLE, cellular, and LoRaWAN solve different layers. The MQTT 5.0 standard can clarify session, QoS, and expiry, but identity, secure boot, certificate management, and signed OTA remain separate.
NIST's IoT device cybersecurity baseline covers identity, configuration, data protection, interface access, software update, and cybersecurity-state awareness. Platform software cannot repair a shared device key, unsigned firmware, or open debug port; secure hardware can still be undermined by excessive backend access. Use revocable per-device identities, state-aware command authorization, phased signed updates, integrity checks, recovery, and audit.
A one-device proof is not production. Pilot later batches and firmware for provisioning, endurance, weak networks, duplicate and out-of-order messages, clock drift, bulk registration, and update rollback; then test tenant isolation, capacity, monitoring, alert storms, and operations. Wavesteam can integrate software and devices, but a client seeking circuit-to-volume-production ownership should appoint a qualified hardware/manufacturing partner and make prime responsibility contractual.
