Can Wavesteam build digital applications on a BIM foundation?
Wavesteam can technically deliver model conversion, browser-based 3D viewing, object queries, asset records, work orders, and IoT status overlays. Our current public portfolio is not sufficient evidence of a complete BIM-foundation delivery, so we would first test one real client model for conversion, performance, object identity, and asset mapping before making a production commitment.
A BIM application is not a Revit file displayed in a browser. Model objects need stable relationships to assets, spaces, documents, work orders, and live data. Geometry without unique asset identifiers or an update owner quickly becomes stale.

If the need is an executive visualization, do not call it a digital twin. If the objective is maintenance efficiency, prioritize asset location and work-order closure over photorealistic materials. Physical control remains protected by the device and professional control system.
The initial review checks source formats and rights; geometry volume, triangles, textures, coordinates, and disciplines; semantic GUIDs, classifications, spaces, systems, properties, and asset keys; and the model publishing/version process. IFC is an open building-information exchange standard, but supporting IFC does not guarantee lossless exchange from every authoring tool. OGC 3D Tiles can organize hierarchical streaming of large 3D data; it does not provide BIM business semantics.
Maintain mappings among model object, asset, IoT device, space, and business keys with source, version, and effective date. Support several components per asset and several sensor points per component. Mark an unresolved object rather than fuzzy-match it into an alarm or control path.
Lightweight delivery uses target-device LOD, tiling, textures, and on-demand loading. Acceptance records first render, interaction-ready time, peak memory, frame rate, selection correctness, and crashes on actual office computers, tablets, and networks, plus relationship migration after a new model version.
The proof selects a representative area with meaningful disciplines and asset relationships and completes conversion, navigation, mappings, state overlay, and a work order. It passes only when device performance, sampled attributes, time/unit correctness, and version migration meet the baseline. Licensing, model IP, information security, and as-built maintenance responsibility remain explicit contract items.
